YUKIMI ANNOUNCES NEW EP ‘YUME’ OUT NOW ON NINJA TUNE
Meaning ‘dream’ in japanese, ‘Yume’ entwines musical styles from jazz, soul and electronic pop to hip hop, roots and psychedelia. “This EP wants to inspire people to dream,” Yukimi comments.
Across its 4 tracks, ‘Yume’ explores what dreams can teach us in the stresses of modern day life. Out today alongside the announcement is new single “All Over Me” – a song that describes longing for romance without holding back. “Indulging in our passionate dreams”. Elsewhere we hear recently released single “Get It Over”, co-written by Canadian musician Saya Grey – who performed a stand-out NPR Tiny Desk in March, and is set to play London’s Electric Brixton in November. ““Get It Over” is about being lost in your own inner world, unable to find a way out into the real world…“it’s about feeling too lost to reply or take on responsibilities”.
The EP arrives after Yukimi’s stunning debut solo album ‘For You’ released in March 2025 on Ninja Tune. The album saw Yukimi step away from a band formation to create some of her most beautiful and intimate work to date: both intensely personal and brilliantly relatable. On ‘For You’, explored themes of love, loss, feminine energy and innate resilience.
Renowned for her distinct and graceful voice, Yukimi has captivated audiences since co-founding Little Dragon in 1996. With the band, she has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, from Coachella and Glastonbury to NPR’s Tiny Desk – while collaborating with an impressive roster of artists, including Mac Miller, Kali Uchis, Gorillaz, JID, KAYTRANADA, Flume, and De La Soul. Her ability to transcend genres and craft deeply moving music has cemented her status as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary music.
Yukimi recently featured on Little Simz’s album ‘Lotus’, on track “Enough” and performed at the 30th edition of Meltdown, curated by Little Simz and hosted at London’s iconic Southbank Centre. Other artists to perform included The Streets, Lola Young, Ghetts, Sasha Keable and Jon Batiste.
‘Yume’ is out now on Ninja Tune.
